First Release v1.0 March, 2002

Built with VP only.

The Munro Tabletop Hockey game was the first tabletop hockey game. It was built and sold in Canada in the 1940s. I built it as an experiment to see whether it could be done with VP and the results are quite good. I found many pictures of Munro tables and there seem to be several different versions, so the table I built isn't a replica. I chose this particular layout of flippers and angles so that the table would be as fun as possible. Even then, it is only fun with two people (and a good deal of imagination).

Table Notes:
The table surface slopes up to the center and back down to the other side. This was accomplished using two wide ramps. It made for some odd angles because walls cannot be placed on ramps. For the puck to look it's best you need to remove the ball shadow. This can be done from the PREFERENCES...VIDEO section of VP. If you don't it is still playable, but there is an odd effect on the puck as it passes over center.

Credits: Munro for creating tabletop hockey, and VP because it is so versatile.

Rules:
This game is a two player game. It is nearly impossible (and not as fun) to play against yourself. All 5 of your flippers and the goalie are controlled with one key(shift). The same is true for the other team. First player to score five goals wins the game.

Hint: Practice passing the puck from behind the net to your man out front.
